Yehudi Menuhin Competition
Yehudi Menuhin Competition - Oslo April, 17-24th 2010
Summary of the visit from Poland.
The group consisted of 7 students and one professor from Brzewski (?) school of music. The purpose of this visit was to take part in the program made in connection with the Menuhin International Competition which took place in Oslo.
Due to the consequences of the volcanic eruption in Island, the program and schedule had to be adjusted the circomstances. Guests, musicians, contestants and soloists were prevented to attend the event. With some creativity and a constructive attitude, our polish guests came to Oslo all the way from Warsaw by bus and arrived one day behind schedule.
The students participated in masterclasses with professors from Norway and England:

All the students performed in two concerts:
Grand Cafй tea time concert. Barratt Due Institute of Music has an agreement with Grand to give a tea time concert once a month. The polish students presented a chamber music concert with polish music.
The second concert was held at The Norwegian Opera. All the polish students participated. His excellency Ambassador of Poland and his wife was present at the concert.
The group was invited by the ambassador for tea at the embassy. The two pianists gave a small concert in the residence.
A welcoming party at Barratt Due Institute of Music was held. The director Stephan Barratt Due gave an introduction and met all the students and the professor. Students from Barratt Due were also present at the party. Former student at Barratt Due Institute of Music, Alexander Rybak entertained.
The group was taken to a concert with Oslo Camerata, the chamber orchestra at Barratt Due.
The group was listening to several contestants in the Menuhin competition.
A visit at The Norwegian Opera and a tour in the Vigeland sculpture park was on the program.
